Horse Grooming

A very special half-day out designed especially for pre-school and primary school groups

“Very informative and great for the kids” - Dublin Teacher

New to Newbridge Farm, our new interactive horse-grooming demonstration and educational programme offers a fun-filled and rewarding day out.

Now available for both pre-school and primary school groups, the experience is tailored to meet the learning outcomes and levels of our visitors to ensure a stimulating and enjoyable experience for all.

The half-day course includes:

  • Live grooming demonstration with the Newbridge Farm horses

  • Simple and enjoyable classroom based activities

  • Visit to Newbridge Farm, including a break to enjoy snacks/lunch in the outdoor picnic area

The focus of the day is on ensuring our young visitors leave having experienced and learned more about communication, working together and caring for animals.

There is plenty of free coach parking on-site and a major children's playground located a short walk from the house in Newbridge Demesne.

Our Team

"It was great to see how interested the children were." - Dublin Parent

The horse-grooming demonstrations at Newbridge are led by Christine Brooks. Raised on a large, busy farm, Christine has been working with animals from a very young age. With a degree in Equine Science from UL, almost twenty years' spent caring for top class performance horses around Europe, 16 years coaching in the pony club, and running a successful livery business, Christine has a world of experience in all aspects of the equestrian world. And with three young kids at home, she understand exactly how to capture and keep the attention of our little visitors!

Visitors are also likely to bump into the Newbridge Farmers who may be helping out with the grooming or busy at work on the farm.

Case Study: Learning Experience for Pre-Schools

"This booklet is a snapshot of the super fun and learning experiences we had in Newbridge House and Farm during the year. It shows visual evidence of how strong partnerships with parents and linking the community has better outcomes for children's learning, well-being and sense of identity and belonging (Aistear Siolta Practice Guide, NCCA 2015)." - Pat Ferrari, Early Childhood Educator
